OMAHA, Neb.—Kaitlyn Breslin is having a game to remember.
And it’s not even over.
The University of Connecticut sophomore outfielder out of Hopkinton, Mass., was 4-for-4 in Friday’s second game of a doubleheader at Creighton.
All four of those of hits were home runs, tying an NCAA single-game record in the process. She ties the mark set by Jill Iacono, of Canisius, who hit four vs. Saint Francis on April 5, 2002.
Breslin also had one in the first game of the series, a 7-6 eight-inning loss to the Blue Jays.
She has seven RBIs in the game and has scored five runs. She also has a walk in the game.
Oh, and check this out: UConn was leading 21-18 in the top of the sixth inning when play was delayed due to a “lighting issue.”
The game will be continued at 1 p.m., Saturday, before Saturday’s series finale.
For the season, Breslin is hitting .392.
