STRATFORD—It will be the rematch everybody wanted to see in the SWC Championship Game.

Top-seeded Brookfield and No. 2 Masuk both rolled into Thursday’s title game at Frank DeLuca Field with convincing victories in Tuesday’s semifinals.

Brookfield bested New Milford by a 5-0 score while Masuk got by Newtown by an 8-2 tally.

The two teams will meet for the second time this season at 7 p.m., Thursday, for the SWC Championship. Earlier this season, the Bobcats bested the Panthers by a 3-1 score, snapping Masuk’s 35-game winning streak.

Masuk has won six of the last seven SWC championships.

Here is a brief look at both semifinal games.

BROOKFIELD 5, NEW MILFORD 0

Sydney Miller fired a one-hitter, striking out 13 and not walking a batter, while aiding her own cause with two hits and two RBIs as the Bobcats advanced to the championship game.

One of Miller’s hit was a solo home run.

Mary Aurrichio doubled and Olivia Sinapi (1 RBI) tripled for Brookfield. Isabella Pontecorvo and Samantha Aurrichio (1 RBI) also had hits.

For New Milford, Ava Kopp had the hit. Lydia Rocky, a freshman, went the distance for the Green Wave. She struck out four and walked five while scattering six hits.

MASUK 8, NEWTOWN 2

The Panthers, who pounded out 14 hits, blew open a tight game in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring seven runs to advance to the championship game again.

Grace Ely slammed two solo home runs amongst her three hits while Ciena Perpetuo also was 3-for-4 with a trio of singles. Julia Bacoulis had a home run and three RBIs while Alyssa Castillo went deep for the Panthers, as well. Sofia Lieto also had two hits as every single Masuk starter notched a hit in the game.

In the circle, Bacoulis got the win, giving up one hit while striking out 17. She walked two.

For Newtown, Gillian Boughan got the hit, plating two in the sixth inning.
