Here is a capsuled look at this year’s Central Connecticut State University softball team:

Coach/Years: Breanna Gleason, 13th season

Last year’s record: 20-30 (13-8 in Northeast Conference play)

2025 Postseason: Went 0-2 during the NEC tournament.

2026 Current Record: 2-3 (as of Feb.16, 2026)

Key Players Returning: Grace Lawton, Sr., IF; Ashlyn Desaulniers, Sr., OF (Southington); Skylar Warn, Sr., IF; Ava Sino, Sr., IF; Liz Hamilton, Jr., P; Reagan Vunak, Jr., C; Kristina Bozek, Jr., IF; Joslyn Teal, Jr., IF; Ashley Viesta, Soph., C;

Top Newcomers: Stella Gasper, Fr., IF; Lilly Waterer, Fr., C-OF; Tai Byrd, Fr., IF (Cheshire).

Outlook: A lot of respect is being thrown Central Connecticut’s way this spring as the Blue Devils have been picked to finish second in the Northeast Conference’s preseason poll. CCSU finished 20-30 last season, but were 13-8 in NEC play. The squad did lose one senior pitcher, but Hamilton returns as a strong No. 1 for the Blue Devils. Of their two wins so far this season, she has them both. Offensively, Central lost two of its top players, but returns a strong contingent of players who saw plenty of action a year ago. CCSU boasts three in-state players , including Delsaulniers (Southington), Byrd (Cheshire) and senior Kendall LaMorte (Foran/Woodbridge), who played 33 games her first years at CCSU but didn’t see any action last season.
