Outlook: The author Thomas Wolfe has once again been proven wrong because you can go home again. Sometimes twice. Longtime Post University coach Tracey Garofalo, who spent the last four seasons at the College of Staten Island, has returned to her alma mater and the place where she had been the head coach for 15 years prior. While it might appear Garofalo has her work cut out for her after last season’s four-win campaign, the Eagles were extremely young with five of the team’s top seven hitters being freshmen or sophomores. One year of college growth should make them even better. The pitching staff, however, must find a way to improve. Post’s team ERA last season was 9.66 as opponents hit .418 and scored 496 runs in 42 games. Garofalo has made Post a winner before. Starting this spring, she’ll try to do it again. Post has 11 Connecticut players on its roster, including: Leah Marreo (Meridan/Maloney), Madison Ocasio (Bethlehem/Holy Cross), Tatiana Martinez (Shelton/Kolbe Cathedral), Katelyn Lipsky (Plantsville/Southington), Isabella Olivia (Waterbury/Holy Cross), Sofia Hynds (Seymour), Angelica Tompkins (Groton/Saint Bernard), Hannah Searles (Bethlehem/Nonnewaug), Haley DiBona (Wolcott/Holy Cross), Allysa Calabrese (Oakville/Nonnewaug) and Alexandra Bisceglia (Southbury/Pomperaug).
Coach’s Comment: “Honestly, my outlook is that this team competes and battles every pitch. They have to hate losing more than they love winning and we preach every day.” — Tracey Garafolo, Post University softball coach
