Here is a capsulized look at the Wesleyan University Softball team

Coach/Years: Jen Lane/25th

Last year’s record: 29-12 (12-6 in NESCAC play)

2025 Postseason: Lost to Tufts, 8-3, in the NESCAC Championship Game.

2026 Current Record: 0-0 (Season Opens Tuesday, March 10, vs. Haverford, in Florida).

Outlook: Last year, Wesleyan had a record-breaking year, posting a school record 29 wins. According to Lane, “After having a taste of that success, the 2026 team is hungry for more this season.” The Cardinals, however, took some hits via graduation, especially in the circle where Wesleyan lost two of its top three hurlers. Those pitchers had ERAs of 1.53 and 1.85, so they are quite big losses. The entire infield defense returns, which is a plus, and Lane feels some of her younger players are ready, willing and able to step up this spring. Lees (14-2, 1.60 ERA, 6 shutouts) will lead that group of up-and-coming pitchers that includes Baker, DeCrescenzo and Gigante. “All put in a ton of work in the offseason and are ready to stsep into the circle for us,” Lane said. Wesleyan features two players from Connecticut—Lennon (Litchfield/Kent School), pictured above, and Palmer (Cheshire).

Coach’s Comment: “I think our defense is definitely going to be our strength. Our entire infield is returning along with our catcher and centerfielder. We have some strong underclassmen who are ready to step up and fill roles vacated by graduation”
