Outlook: The Hartford line-up took some big hits as the Hawks graduated their top three hitters, two of which hit .400 or better over the 40-game season. Still, a lot of talent returns both in the batter’s box and in the pitching circle where three of four of the team’s top pitchers are back, as well. Mayhood led the team in wins (7) with a 2.73 ERA while Zobel and Hopkins both saw action in half the team’s games, as well. After missing the CNE playoffs last season, the Hawks are looking to qualifying this spring and with a host of veterans returning to replace the offensive losses this Hartford team could very well do that. The Hawks swept a season-opening doubleheader over Framingham State to open the season before heading to Florida this weekend. Connecticut players suiting up for the Hawks include: Ackerman (North Branford), Fitch (Andover/RHAM), Matz (Ellington), and Hassett (Granby/Choate Rosemary Hall).
