With one week’s worth of games having been played, the CT Softball Blog’s Top 10 Poll has shifted, but all 10 squads who made the grade a week ago remain as we head into Week 2 of the 2026 season.
Unlike many Top 10 polls, which rely on media members and/or coaches, the CTSB Top 10 is voted on by players from multiple leagues around the state.
Up top, 11 of our 13 voters have decided Cheshire is still the No. 1 team after being tapped as our preseason No. 1 a week ago.
Last week, the Rams received eight first place votes.
The Rams had a huge week, starting things off with a big 10-0 win over St. Joseph, which was No. 5 in the preseason poll and has fallen to No. 10, according to the voters.
Beyond that, there was a lot of shuffling going on.
Foran and Masuk flip-flopped spots with the Lions and Rams bringing home and the No. 2 and 3 spots. Foran also received two first-place votes this week, one less than a week ago.
Southington and Woodland Regional were tied for the No. 4 ranking spot after going undefeated this week.
Brookfield used some big wins to jump from the No. 8 spot up to No. 6 while Darien, North Branford, Trumbull and St. Joseph round out the top 10.
Of the last four teams on our list, only North Branford remains undefeated while St. Joe’s has struggled a bit, opening 1-2 with losses to Cheshire and Ridgefield.
