The St. Luke’s School and Hopkins School will meet this afternoon, weather-pending, for the Fairchester Athletic Association championship.
St. Luke’s defeated King School of Stamford by an 8-0 score in a game where Storm senior pitcher Caroline D’Onofrio fired a perfect game. The Hilltoppers of Hopkins, meanwhile, bested Holy Child of Rye, N.Y., by a 2-1 score to advance.
Today’s game, being played at SLS in New Canaan, is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
St. Luke’s 8, King School 0
D’Onofrio struck out 11 and didn’t walk a batter as the Storm looked to get a chance to win its third straight league title.
From the top of the line-up, Lucy Millones led St. Luke’s 12-hit attack, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Madison Francois (1 run, 2 RBIs), Keira Penn (2 RBIs) and Zoe Malkoun (2 runs, 1 RBI) all had two hits each. Millones and Francois both had two doubles while Penn had a double and a triple. Malkoun and Makena Woodfork each had doubles, also.
Hopkins 2, Holy Child 1
The Hilltoppers walked off with the win when Ariel Adams doubled after A’nai Alvarez’s lead-off triple in the bottom of the seventh, sending Hopkins to the title tilt.
Three other Hopkins players had hits. Kandice Esposito tripled and scored the team’s other run while Maeve Phipps and Veronia Vece both singled.
Winning pitcher Hana Beauregard gave up one unearned runs on four hits. She struck out 8 and walked 2.
