Only days remain in the regular season. It’s hard to believe.

Confernce playoffs are starting soon and the state tournament follows, so as the season winds down, we take a look at Tuesday’s game, including one rival beating another and a tight non-conference contest between two of the top teams in the state.

Here’s a look back at Tuesday’s action.

Bristol Eastern 8, Bristol Central 7

Bristol Eastern scored thrice in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat arch-rival Bristol Central.

Corinne Sutula’s single plated the game-winning run with two outs in the inning as the Lancers finished the season 11-9.

Four different players had two hits each for Bristol Eastern. Maria Albert was 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBIs and a home run; Sutula was 2-for-4 with two RBIs; Ally McKenna was 2-for-4 with an RBI; and Bella Arborio was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Arborio was also the winning pitcher, striking out seven and walking three.

For Bristol Central, Haley Powers was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI. Olivia Stafford also doubled while Madelyn Milkowski had a solo home run and two walks.

North Branford 1, Amity 0

The Thunderbirds scored the only run it would need in the bottom the second. Addy Wyatt singled with one out and later scored on Ashley Berardesca’s single, giving North Branford the edge it needed.

From there, pitcher Lauren Vitarisi did the rest, throwing a two-hit shutout. She struck out 12 and walked two. Ava Ryszczyk had two hits for North Branford, a single and a double, while Wyatt had two singles.

For Amity, Angelina Charbonneau and Gabby Celozzi had the hits. Charbonneau’s was a double. Celozzi was the hard-luck loser, striking out 7 and walking two. She scattered five hits and the run proved to be unearned.
