Fifth-seeded Rocky Hill and sixth-seeded Bristol Central pulled off upsets, at least according to the seeds, while top-seeded Southington had to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off Glastonbury in an exciting first round of CCC Tournament action on Tuesday.
Here’s a rundown of each and every game.
SOUTHINGTON 10, GLASTONBURY 9
The Lady Knights had to score three times in the bottom of the seventh to walk off into the semifinals.
Addie Wanner reached on an error, allowing Savanna Eliasson to score with two outs, giving Southington the win.
Nerea Maule had two hits and scored two runs for Southington. Wanner also had two RBIs on the day. Amber Ramey and Olivia Gombotz each doubled.
For Glastonbury, Emily Thompson was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBIs and a home run. Maddie Scionti, Sylvia Lewis and Brooke Schlenger all had two hits each. Scionti, Lyla Elliott and Ryley Handrahan all had doubles.
ROCKY HILL 5, MALONEY 1
Ingris Lin pitched a masterpiece, giving up just one run on three hits while striking out six and walking one to lead Rocky Hill to the win.
Sophia Milman had a double and three RBIs, while Mia Ferreira (1 run, 1 RBI) had two hits, and Brooklyn Schoen tripled for Rocky Hill.
For Maloney, Oliviah Garcia-Matyka had a triple and a single. Stella Cicero had the other hit, while Remi Rosado had the team’s lone RBI. Cicero also struck out six and walked two.
BRISTOL CENTRAL 10, AVON 7
Abigail Corbin drove in four runs with two hits, while Kiley Simone had two doubles and two RBIs to lead Bristol Central to the win.
Myah Steiner (2 runs, 1 RBI) added two doubles, Baileigh Adkins (1 run, 1 RBI) had a double and a single, Madelyn Milkowski (1 run, 1 RBI) had a double and a single, while Hailey Powers scored two runs.
For Avon, Lena Stortz had two doubles and two RBIs, while Fallyn Banks had a double and two RBIs, and Anna Kelley had a double. McKenna Bastin also had a pinch-hit two-run home run.
ENFIELD 6, LEWIS MILLS 2
Maddie Page was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs to lead Enfield to the win.
Emily Lyver (2 doubles) also had three hits with a run scored and an RBI, while Claire Bouffard posted two doubles and two RBIs. Bouffard also got the win in the circle, giving up five hits and one earned run while striking out 11 and walking just two.
For Lewis Mills, Kendall Buthe doubled, while Michaela LaRose had her team’s lone RBI.
THE SEMIFINALS
On Wednesday, Enfield will host Bristol Central and Southington will host Rocky Hill, with the winners meeting up on Friday at the Dunn Sports Complex in Meredith for the championship game.
