When the CT Softball Blog announced it was starting a Top 10 Poll selected by a group of players from around the state, it was the Cheshire Rams who earned the top spot before the season even started.
From that point on, Cheshire ran the table, winning all 27 games it played and remaining the No. 1 team in the state for the entire season. While it wasn’t intially unanimous, it soon became that way and after winning the CIAC Class LL championship on Saturday the Rams complete their run atop the poll as the state’s best team.
The state champs from No. 2 Brookfield (Class L), No 3 (tied) St. Paul Catholic (Class S) and No. 5 Foran (Class M) are all in the top five with Class M runner-up New Milford also in the top, tied with the Falcons at third.
Rounding out the top are: Southington, North Branford, Darien, Jonathan Law and Woodland Regional in that order.
