WORCESTER, Mass.—The Lym/Old Lyme-based Shoreline Wildcats continued their impressive run through the Senior League Softball East Regional, sweeping its first three games by a combined score of 32-10 to remain unbeaten in pool play.

Connecticut opened the tournament Saturday morning with an 11-2 victory over the host Worcester team, erupting for seven runs in the first inning and never looking back. Sawyer Barreto struck out 14 while allowing just three hits in a complete-game effort. At the plate, Victoria Glaras went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, Brooke Ouellette collected two hits, AJ Scrivo finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Barreto helped her own cause with two hits and an RBI as Connecticut pounded out 12 hits.

The offense stayed hot later Saturday in an 11-8 win over Rhode Island. Connecticut scored in each of the first five innings, building an 11-3 lead before holding off a late rally. Brooke Ouellette led a 14-hit attack by going 3-for-5, while AJ Scrivo finished 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Avery Goiangos added three hits, Kaylyn Vernon doubled twice, and Paige Erwin drove in a pair of runs. After Avery Goiangos started in the circle, Isabella Franklin earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit while striking out four.

The Lyme-Old Lyme squad wrapped up pool play Sunday with a dominant 10-0, five-inning victory over Massachusetts. Isabella Franklin tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out seven without allowing a run. Connecticut backed her with 14 hits, led by Franklin’s 3-for-3 performance that included a double, triple and four RBIs. Brooke Ouellette and Avery Goiangos each had two hits, while AJ Scrivo drove in two runs as Connecticut scored six times over the second and third innings to put the game away early.

With the three victories, Lyme-Old Lyme sits atop its pool at 3-0 and has outscored its opponents 32-10 heading into bracket play.

The team starts elimination play on Monday at 8 p.m. against an opponent to be named.
