Weather and field conditions forced the SWC to break up its quarterfinal round over two days on Saturday and Sunday, but the semifinals are not set.

Brookfield, Masuk, Newtown and New Milford—all four of the league’s top seeds—advanced to the next round, which will be played on Tuesday at Deluca Field in Stratford.

No. 1 Brookfield bested No. 8 Stratford 15-2, No. 2 Masuk defeated seventh-seeded New Fairfield 3-2, No. 3 Newtown topped sixth-seeded Bunnell X-X and fourth-seeded New Milford beat No. 5 Immaculate 6-1.

Here’s a capsulized look at each of the SWC quarterfinal games:

BROOKFIELD 15, STRATFORD 2

Hailey Miller, Sydney Miller and Olivia Sinapi combined for 13 RBIs to lead the Brookfield Bobcats to a 15-2 win over Stratford.

Hailey Miller hit a grand slam in the third inning while Sydney Miller had two home runs in the game—a two-run home run in the first inning and another two-run shot in the second.

All three Brookfield players had two hits each as did Mary Aurrichhio out of the ninth slot in the Bobcats batting order. Chloe Fitzgerald, Sydney Miller and Lila Conrad all scored three runs.

The Red Devils struck first in the first inning when Shyan Rolle reached on an error, moving to second on a passed ball and to third on a wild pitch. She then stole home to put Stratford ahead by a 1-0 score.

Carolyne Burlone hit a solo home run in the fourth inning while Riley Dicks had the Red Devils’ other hit.

MASUK 3, NEW FAIRFIELD 2

The Panthers, who have won six of the last seven SWC champions, had a scare thrown into them, but pulled out a 3-2 win over New Fairfield.

Masuk trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the sixth and erupted for three runs to pull out the win.

Aubrey Zvovushe-Ramos’ bases-loaded triple with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning turned that two-run deficit into a one-run lead for the Panthers. The big hit was set up by Alyssa Castillo (bunt single), Ciena Perpetuo (single to left) and Josie Lieto (intentional walk).

Grace Ely got the start for Masuk, pitching 4.2 innings of two-run ball with five strikeouts and one walk. Julia Bacoulis came on relief in the fifth and gave up just one hit over 2.1 innings, striking out nine, to get the win.

Ely had Masuk’s other hit.

New Fairfield, which actually out-hit the Panthers by a 5-4 count, got two hits from Lindsey Briggs. Sarah Ottusch added an RBI double while Sophia Roldan and Gianna Garafola (1 RBI) had singles.

Rebels pitcher Briana Puff battled, giving up four hits. She struck out four and walked five.

NEW MILFORD 6, IMMACULATE 1

Lydia Rocky got the complete-game win, scattering five hits while giving up just a single run as the Green Wave topped Immaculate for the quarterfinal win.

Rocky had seven strikeouts and just walked two to get the win. She also aided her own cause with two hits and two RBIs.

Rocky had a home run as did Cienna McNamara (2-run HR) and Lilly Fortier (solo shot).

For Immaculate, five different players had hits with Norah Whitmore’s safety being a double. Laurel Pucci also had an RBI.

NEWTOWN 6, BUNNELL 5

Gillian Boughan’s third hit of the day gave third-seeded Newtown a walk-off win over Bunnell on Sunday with one out in the bottom of the seventh.

Gabby Ansman had doubled in front of Boughan as the pair joined forces to advance the Nighthawks into the semifinals.

Olivia Doersch had a two-run double for Newtown while Reagan Schenzer and Sophia Caruso also had hits.

Addison Cordova got the start and gave up one earned run over three innings. She gave up four hits and struck out four without a walking batter.

Madison Thoesen came on in the fourth and pitched the final four innings to earn the win. She fanned three and walked one.

For Bunnell, Shea Toth was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Leilani Navarro and Payton Niemiec both had two singles apiece. Niemiec also plated two runs while Kira Bryant and Bella Caramanica also had RBIs.
