Southington and Berlin will meet for the Central Connecticut Conference softball championship after their respective semifinal victories on Wednesday.
Top-seeded Southington bested Bristol Eastern by an 8-2 score while third-seeded Berlin knocked off No. 2 Enfield by a 4-1 score.
The two teams will meet on Friday for the title.
The Blue Knights will be chasing their fifth straight CCC title.
SOUTHINGTON 8, BRISTOL EASTERN 2
The Blue Knights broke open a tie game with six runs in the bottom of the fifth en route to the win.
Ashlyn Kenefick and Reagan Salvatore each had two hits for Southington. Salvatore drove in four runs while both she and Kenefick scored a run apiece.
Tied up and 2-2 entering the bottom of the fifth, Southing erupted.
Julia Barrieau and Addison Lasek, out of the No. 8 and 9 slots, respectively, in the Southington lineup, opened the inning with back-to-back doubles, putting the Blue Knights up by a 3-2 score.
After Kenefick singled, with one out, Olivia Gombotz doubled, scoring Lasek to make it a 4-2 game.
Aubrey Perugini was then initially walked to load the bases, and Salvatore blasted a grand slam as Southington blew the game open.
Southington pitcher Angie Insogna earned the complete-game win, giving up two runs. She struck out 9 and walked just two.
For Bristol Eastern, which was held to five hits, Hailey Beebe had two singles and two RBIs. Emily Valentine, Gracie Browne and Corine Sutula had singles, as well.
BERLIN 4, ENFIELD 1
The Redcoats of Berlin scored three runs over the last two innings to pull out a 4-1 win over Enfield in the other CCC semifinal.
Berlin got solo home runs from Isabel Anderson and Julia Matan (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) to advance to the final.
Anderson (1 run, 1 RBI) also had two hits as did Jill Farrand (1 RBI).
Winning pitcher Callie Jehning went the distance, scattering six hits and giving up just one run. She fanned six and walked just one batter.
For Enfield, Emily Lyver was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Maddy Page (1 run), Hailey Anderson and Cassidy Wallner all singled, as well.
Payten Stebbins battled tough, giving up four runs in seven innings while striking out five and walking four.
