Ellington’s Camryn Fisher, who has not given up a single earned run all season, was named the 2025 Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year this morning.

Here is the press released sent out by Gatorade:

“At the time of her selection, the 5-foot-7 senior right-handed pitcher had led the Knights (19-3) to the NCCC title and a trip to the semifinals of the CIAC Class L state tournament this season. Fisher entered the postseason round of 32 with a 19-1 record in the circle with a 0.00 ERA and 374 strikeouts in 141 innings for an average of 2.7 Ks per innins. She owned a WHIP of .034 and opposing batters hit .034 against her through 22 games. At the plate, Fisher entered the tournament’s second round batting .417 with 5 home runs, 31 RBI and a 1.331 OPS. She is ranked as the nation’s No. 42 prospect in her class by Extra Innings Softball.

Fisher has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics, the Vernon Soup Kitchen and the Enfield Senior Center. The president of her school’s debate club, she has also donated her time as a youth softball coach and mentor.

“Camryn is the embodiment of a relentless competitor—driven by an inner fire and an unmatched work ethic that truly sets her apart,” said Ellington High School head coach Tom Gordon. “Her dedication is second to none; she simply cannot be outworked. Every ounce of effort, sacrifice and commitment she pours into her sport is a reflection of her unwavering character and determination to be the best version of herself.”

Fisher has maintained an 86.9 average in the classroom. She has signed a written letter of athletic aid to play softball at Appalachian State University (N.C.) this fall.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states across 12 different high school sports – football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field – and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee, which leverages experts including coaches, scouts, media and others as sources to help evaluate and determine the state winners in each sport.

As part of Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every Player of the Year also receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner. To date, the Gatorade Player of the Year program has provided more than $5.6 million in grants to winners across more than 2,000 organizations.”
