MANSFIELD—And then there were four.
The Connecticut State Little League Softball 12-year-old Final Four field is set following South Windsor’s 7-0 defeat of Columbia-Lebanon tonight in the Section 4 championship game.
On Tuesday, Fairfield, Berlin, Guilford and South Windsor will compete for the state championship and a chance to represent the state in Bristol during the 2025 Little League Softball Metro Regional championship tournament.
The winner of the Metro Regional advances to the Little League Softball World Series, which is slated to be held in Greenville, North Carolina.
In Section 1, Fairfield, the District 2 champs, knocked off six-time defending state champion Milford to advance, winning the best-of-three series 2 games to 1.
In Section 2, Berlin went undefeated and topped Seymour, 6-0, in the title game.
In Section 3, Guilford also went undefeated and didn’t give up a single run while winning that title with a 10-0 win over East Lyme-Salem.
And, in Section 4, it was South Windsor moving on with tonight’s win.
On Tuesday, Guilford will play South Windsor in the state tournament’s opening game at 5:30 p.m., with Fairfield squaring off against Berlin at 8 p.m.
The state final four is a double-elimination affair so the winners and losers of Tuesday’s game will both play on Wednesday, with the first team being eliminated by the end of the day.
The state tournament is scheduled to wrap up with the championship series on Saturday and Sunday, July 12-13, with Sunday’s game being the if-necessary contest.
