Outlook: The Falcons were picked first in the GNAC South Division in the preseason coaches’ poll, showing the respect Albertus Magnus has in the league. While the Falcons lost just three seniors from a year ago, the program has brought in nine new freshmen players and two juniors. Two of the newcomers are also from the softball-mad states of California (Verastique) and Texas (Hernandez), the first two Falcon softball players ever from those two states. Last season, the Falcons scored 227 runs while hitting .296 as a team, so this team can rake. Eight of its top 10 hitters return, as well. Albertus Magnus is also a haven for in-state players as the Falcons boast 13 players from Connecticut on its roster. They include: Boulli (Torrington), Carangelo (Cheshire), Smith (Meriden/Maloney), Jabs (East Hartland/Northwest Regional), Carrano (West Haven), Barreiro (Brookfield), Rubino (Southington), Cross (New Hanve), Testone (Seymour), Solow (Fairfield), Scribner (Quaker Hill/Saint Bernard), and Summers (Putnam).
