Here is a capsulized look at the Western Connecticut State University softball team:

Coach Years: Heather Stone, 20th

2025 Record: 24-20 (8-8 in Little East Conference play)

Playoffs: Went 2-2 in LEC tournament.

Current Record: 2-4.

Key Players Returning: Alexis Resto, Sr., 3B-1B; Jaycee Filancia, Sr., SS; Olivia Bordenaro, Sr., P; Kendall Allen, Jr., Util; Lindsay Farinacio, Jr., P; Victoria Wiatrak, Soph., C; Sophia Ochs, Soph., OF; Caitlin Milks, Soph., Util; Sere DeBaggis, Soph., Util; Alyvia Hogg, Soph., 1B-OF; Madison Mandra, Soph., P; Hailey O’Reilly, Soph., P-Util.

Top Newcomers: Francesca Foster, Sr., Util; Lorelei Stancavage, Jr., C-OF (transfer from SCSU); Giulia Scibilia, Fr., 2B; Serenity Ortega, Fr., SS; Shaylee Bealey, Fr., IF; Angelina Avila, Fr., Util.

Outlook: Six seniors graduated from the program last spring, including three of the team’s top seven hitters. Another player, who was second on the team last season with a .379 average, has also departed. Still, Stone expects her team to be solid offensively this season, and why not? The Wolves batted .313 as a team last season. WestConn’s top four pitchers return and last year they led a staff that had a combined 3.85 ERA. Players from Connecticut that are on the WCSU Roster include: Amber McCullough (Southbury/Pomperaug), Sophia Ochs (Bethel), Analise Hubert (Trumbull/St. Joseph), Alyvia Hogg (Hamden), Caitlin Milks (Sandy Hook/Newtown), Victoria Wiatrak (Cromwell), Lorelei Stancavage (Bristol/Bristol Central), Kendall Allen (Naugatuck), Alexis Resto (Shelton), Grace Parkosewich (Seymour) and Francesca Foster (Mystic/Fitch).

Coach’s Comment: “We have several new rookies that are looking to make an impact right away. We feel very confident that we will be in the mix for a conference championship.”
