The Cheshire Rams, the defending Class LL state champs, are the No. 1 team in the state as a new season opens, according to a poll of current players from around Connecticut.
Starting on Monday, April, 13th, the CT Softball Blog will be publishing a weekly CTSB Players’ Top 10 poll, where a group of 13 players from conferences all over the state will vote on who they feel are the Top 10 teams.
To open the season, the Cheshire Rams were selected as the top team with eight of a possible 13 first-place votes.
Masuk, the seven-time defending Class L state champs, eked out Foran, the defending Class M champs, for second. Masuk received only one first place as compared to Foran’s three, but it was the Panthers edging out the Lions.
Darien and St. Joseph, a pair of FCIAC teams, were picked fourth and fifth as Southington, Woodland Regional, Brookfield, North Branford and Trumbull rounded out the Top 10.
All told, 28 different teams received votes by our panel.
