Trumbull’s Madison Pippa and Coventry’s Brooke Blouin are the CT Softball Blog’s Union 12 Design Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 4 of the high school softball season.
After suffering a tough 3-0 league loss the week before, Pippa bounced back the following week two important league games for the Eagles—both in shutout fashion.
The bigger of the two victories came when Pippa outdueled Darien’s Vivian Knott for a 1-0 road win in Darien. She gave up just one hit in the game, striking out 16 and walking just one batter to earn the win. She threw 92 pitches in the game, 68 of which went for strikes. Forty-eight hours later, Pippa threw another shutout league win as Trumbull defeated Greenwich by a 14-0 score. Pippa went the distance, striking out 12 and walking one while scattering five hits. She was also 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs in that game after having a hit against Knott in the Darien game, too.

Blouin helped Coventry go 3-0 last week, driving in 10 runs over three games. She was 7-for-12 for the week with two doubles and a triple. In a 13-0 win over Tolland to start the week, Blouin was 2-for-2 with two doubles and five RBIs. She plated three more runs in a 15-2 win over Ellington and had two RBIs in a 19-0 win over East Windsor. She added one more hit in a win over Granby, running her hit streak to 15 games, dating back to last year.te tournament.
