The Southington Blue Knights are the only softball team in history to win the Central Connecticut Conference tournament.
While impressive, it’s not as impressive as it truly sounds, given the fact the CCC came to life in the mid-1980s and has grown to be the biggest athletic conference in the state with 32 schools total and 29 teams in its softball ranks.
Truth of the matter, however, is the CCC Softball Tournament itself is only six years old. (Previously four divisional champs were honored based strictly on regualar season play).
Hence, the CCC power Southington program is the only school to win the softball tournament.
Can the Blue Knights do it again this year?
They’re the No. 1 seed, but this might very well be the deepest eight-team field in tournament history.
