WOODBURY—Scarlett Ivey pitched a complete-game four-hitter and the Nonnewaug Chiefs pounded out 16 hits en route to a 12-1 win over Thomaston in the Berkshire League championship game.
Ivey struck out 11 and walked just one. The run she surrendered was unearned.
Nonnewaug took a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first inning, but after Thomaston tied the game in the top of the second, the Chiefs exploded for five runs. They added six more runs over the next three innings to put the game away.
Jordan Kovach was a single short of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. She had a double, a triple, a home run and a sacrifice fly. Gia Saverese was 4-for-4 with tfour singles, wo runs and two RBIs while her cousin Maryn Savarese was 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple, two runs and an RBI; and Lila Farrelly was 2-for-2 with two runs and two walks. She added a double.
For Thomaston, Ayva Hill had two hits while Addison Patchall and Delilah Palladino both singled.
