MOODUS—Lauren Vitarisi fired a complete-game two-hitter, striking out 11 while walking just one batter and leading the North Branford Thunderbirds to their 11 straight Shoreline Athletic Conference championship, 2-0, over Hale-Ray on Thursday.
The Thunderbirds scored twice in the fourth inning as Adriennne Frost had an RBI double and Madi DiStefano had a single and an RBI. Sam Johnson had North Branford’s other hit.
Lily Jahne of Hale-Ray matched Vitarisi almost pitch for pitch. She gave up just three hits, striking out 14 and walking three. She also had a double, but the Noises couldn’t get her home. Maggie Janecek added a single.
